Scripture for the Soul That Cannot Slow Down

Written by the Scripture Nook team · May 28, 2026

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

Matthew 11:28

We live in a culture that has confused exhaustion with virtue. Busy has become a personality. The Bible names this for what it is, an inability to trust that God can run the world without our help. Sabbath was not a suggestion. It was a command, built into creation itself.

Matthew 11:28 is an invitation more than a rule. Come. Bring the weariness. Bring the burden. The yoke of Christ is easy not because the work disappears, but because you are no longer pulling alone. The plow is shared.

If you are tired today, do one restful thing on purpose. A walk without a phone. A meal eaten slowly. Ten minutes of silence. Rest is a way of saying, with your body, that you trust God to hold the world while you stop.

A Prayer

Jesus, I am weary. I have been carrying things I was never meant to carry alone. Teach me to rest in You, to trust that the world will keep turning while I stop. Give me Your easy yoke today. Amen.
