Scripture for the Mother Who Is Worn Thin
Written by the Scripture Nook team · February 12, 2026
"She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come."
There is no version of motherhood that is not tiring. The early years are physical, the middle years are emotional, and every year is a quiet pouring out of yourself for someone else. The Bible does not romanticize this. It honors it.
Proverbs 31 is often misread as a checklist. It is not. It is a portrait, of a woman whose strength is not loud, whose dignity is not earned by performance, whose laughter about the future comes from trust, not control. She is clothed in these things. They were given to her.
If you are worn thin today, you are not failing. You are doing one of the holiest works there is. Let God clothe you again this morning, with strength you did not produce, and a laugh that comes from knowing Who holds your children's tomorrow.
A Prayer
Father, I am tired. I love them and I am tired. Clothe me again in strength I cannot manufacture. Remind me that the small, repeated, unseen work of mothering is seen by You, and treasured. Amen.
